Woodturning
I have turned over 1,600 pieces both functional and artistic. I often experiment with colors and contrasts; you’ll see dyed, painted and stained pieces. One of my favorite ways to texture a piece is to burn it then brush away the softer wood before finishing it. I also use contrasting wood colors to make patterns in segmented pieces. One of the intriguing things in this craft is there will always be new things to try. But there will always be joy in creating a finely shaped functional bowl from a piece of locally downed wood. I have pieces for sale in many stores and museum shops throughout PA, NJ, VA. New York and on Nantucket.
